Description

Philodendron Painted Lady

“Philo” means love, whereas “Dendron” means “tree”. The plant was named Philodendron in reference to the fact that it is a “tree hugger” and loves to climb along with trees.

If you are looking for a low-maintenance plant that will create an exotic atmosphere in your home, Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ is the best option for you.

Philodendron erubescens (Scientific name) is a cultivar of the plant genus Philodendron. It is an evergreen tropical plant native to Central and South America. Philodendron Painted Lady leaves are velvety and heart-shaped, with a beautiful silver-green tint and bright pink splotches. The plant may reach a height of three feet and a width of two feet, making it an appealing addition to any indoor or outdoor garden.

It is famous for its foliage and unique flower, but not indoors though. Still, you can enjoy this plant solely for its foliage too.

Philodendron Painted Lady is also recognized for having air-purifying properties, making it an excellent choice for improving air quality in your home or office.

Philodendron Care

Light: The plant enjoys indirect, bright light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves, and keep them out of dark corners or low-light places.

Water: Water on a regular basis, but don’t over-water it. The soil should be damp but not wet. Allow the top inch of soil to dry before re-watering.

Soil: The plant prefers well-drained soil. A mixture of potting soil, perlite, and peat moss would be ideal for Philodendron Painted Lady.

Fertilizer: Use a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser once a month throughout the growing season (spring and summer).

Pruning: Prune to keep it looking well and to stimulate new growth. Remove any yellow or dead leaves and prune any leggy stalks.

Temperature: Philodendron Burle Marx likes moderate room temperatures, from 60 to 75 degrees F. Still, they tolerate lower temperature conditions than most of the other houseplants.

Landscape Uses

Philodendrons are excellent foliage plants, ideal in pots on the floor or table.
