Philodendron Moonlight Plant family name is Araceae. Background. Philodendron ‘Moonlight’ is a bright green, almost fluorescent hybrid known for its cheerful look and its very ease of care. Philodendron Moonlight is a basically hybrid variety of philodendrons. Moonlight is very popular and easy to grow house indoor plant. This Philodendron is low growing and shrub-like tropical plant.

Philo moonlight has light-green foliage meanwhile the new leaves are in a bright yellow-green chartreuse colour. Apart from that Its foliage tends to get coarser with age and its leaves become more prominently ribbed. Philodendron filters airborne toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene from the atmosphere. Philodendron Moonlight plants are considered poisonous and should be kept away from pets and children.

How to Care for Philodendron Moonlight?

Philodendron ‘Moonlight’ is best grown in well-drained, moist soil in part shade to full shade. Too much light can easily burn the leaves. Philodendrons also do not like overly wet or cold soils. Avoid alkaline soil.

Moonlight is a fantastic understory plant in shady gardens in warm, frost-free regions. It is also an excellent houseplant in bright, warm indoor spaces.

The philodendron leaves and stems are poisonous, and the juices can cause skin irritation in some people.

Plant Requirements

Light: Bright partial shade or indirect light will ensure a happy moonlight Philodendron.

Soil: It grows best in a well-drained but moist, rich organic mix. Try to avoid wet, mucky or dry, sandy soils.

Water: Water your plant regularly during the growing season and always keep the soil evenly moist but never allow your plant to sit in water. You can allow the topsoil to become slightly dry between each watering. But during the winter months, reduce watering.

Temperature: The ideal temperature for a philodendron is between 65 – 78°F during the day, and around 60°F at night.

Fertilizer: Fertilize the plant with a slow-release fertilizer during spring and a liquid-based fertilizer every two to four weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn.

Re-potting: Re-pot the plant every spring into pots one size bigger until they are in the largest convenient pot size.
